The City of Sydney invited your feedback on a proposal for a development option in the Lend Lease block bounded by Alfred, Pitt, Dalley and George streets near Circular Quay.

The proposed changes were on exhibition from 18 May – 15 June. They included amendments to the Sydney Local Environmental Plan 2012 and Sydney Development Control Plan 2012.

The proposed changes would enable:

  • A 248m tall commercial office tower, with leasing opportunities for innovative businesses;

  • Remodelling of the Jacksons on George licenced premises;

  • A public plaza on George Street

  • A community building with access from George Street;

  • A second plaza space on Rugby Lane;

  • A pedestrian bridge from the George Street plaza to the office tower;

  • A public bike hub; and

  • An upgraded network of laneways.

Subject to Council approval, the proposal incorporated two small areas of council land. A draft planning agreement would see the land owner transfer land to the City in return.

The City considered the submissions and reported the results to Council and the Central Sydney Planning Committee. If Council approves this planning proposal, it can amend Sydney Local Environmental Plan 2012 on behalf of the Minister for Planning.
