Revitalising the Ashmore precinct

The Ashmore industrial estate in Erskineville is undergoing a transition to a new residential precinct which will be home to up to 6,000 new residents in the 17ha area over the coming five to 10 year period.

Some of the new residential developments have already been completed, while others are under construction or undergoing the planning and approval process.

Along with the residential development, the redevelopment of the precinct will include a new local park, McPherson Park, and Kooka Walk, a green landscaped pedestrian/cycle link, along with new roads, a small supermarket and cafes.

It was great to see people enjoying the food, children’s activities, music and bike mechanic at the Erskineville Good Neighbourhood BBQ on 23 October. We talked to residents about plans to revitalise the Ashmore Precinct, including concept designs for McPherson Park and Kooka Walk. It was good to hear about a range of wider issues too, including transport, cycling, parks, schools and childcare.

Thanks to everyone who braved the wind and came out to speak with us; these community days are a valuable way to find out about the things that matter to you in your local neighbourhood. Find out more about how we're planning for the Ashmore Precinct, including our infrastructure plan here.
