City Transformation

City Transformation is about unlocking our city centre’s potential and making it an attractive place to visit.

The introduction of light rail and pedestrianisation of George Street (from Hunter - Bathurst streets) is a crucial part of this process. Light rail will dramatically improve the quality of the city, particularly in and around George Street and Surry Hills.

Light rail is being delivered by the NSW Government. We are working closely with Transport for NSW to ensure our vision and high design standards are delivered throughout the route from Circular Quay along George Street to Devonshire Street in Surry Hills.

We are also revitalising laneways, streets and squares in the city by investing over $8 million over the next 10 years in public artworks to breathe new life into these spaces.

Visit My Sydney, to learn more about the initiatives that will transform our city.
