Fees and charges amendments

At its October 2017 meeting, Council resolved if the anticipated amendments to the Marriage Act become law, to waive venue hire fees for the first 100 days for couples currently disadvantaged by not being able to marry.

This resolution requires a change to the City's schedule of fees and charges for venue hire to create a temporary category for waiving fees for this purpose.

These changes mean hiring fees will be waived for City community halls, venues, parks and open spaces when hired for an eligible wedding function.

This fee waiver applies only to couples currently denied the right to marry. It will apply for the first 100 days after the changes to the Marriage Act commence. All other fees and conditions of hire, such as security bonds and catering and insurance fees, will still apply.

You can review details of the new category of fee waiver and a list of venues.
