Hill Street, Surry Hills: Proposed road closure and shared zone

We invited your feedback on a proposal to permanently close Hill Street, Surry Hills, between Short Place and Clare Street, to vehicular traffic and implement a shared zone.

The proposed changes will provide an environment where access and safety for people walking is prioritised and through traffic restricted. Access for cyclists will be maintained and on-street parking will remain unchanged.

The proposal forms part of a wider precinct plan originally agreed to as part of the redevelopment of the former St Margaret's Hospital East site, which will also see shared zones considered for nearby Clare Street, Marys Place, Short Place and Floods Place. View the concept plan.

Your feedback

We invited submissions on the City of Sydney's proposal from 7 June to 5 July 2017.

We will report back soon on the outcome of the public exhibition.
