Public toilet in Paddington

The City's public toilet strategy was endorsed by Council in April 2014 to improve the availability and access to public toilets for everyone.

We have undertaken studies and consulted the community to determine the best sites for placing automated public toilets.

We plan to install an automated public toilet on the footpath at the corner of Oxford and William streets in Paddington.

This will be a clean and secure unisex public toilet with a single cubicle, accessible through an automated sliding door, which opens automatically at a programmed time to prevent loitering and deter antisocial use. The cubicle includes:

  • hand basin
  • hand dryer
  • baby change table.

The facility will have ample space for people using mobility aids and families with prams.

This location will provide public toilet access for people walking along Oxford Street and shoppers visiting the area. The closest alternative public toilet is in Paddington Town Hall, about 400m away. However this facility is only available during library opening hours.

Plenty of space will remain for the footpath and around the facility. Parking is available nearby.

The proposed operational times of the automated public toilet are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
