We began work to improve Crown Street in Surry Hills between Devonshire and Cleveland Streets in mid-February.

This work is being carried out in stages and will make the street more pleasant for pedestrians, help calm traffic and encourage outdoor dining.

    The works include:

    • wider footpaths creating more space for outdoor dining
    • a raised pedestrian crossing, north of Lansdowne Road
    • a raised footpath crossing on Lansdowne and Miles streets to calm traffic
    • new lighting and street furniture
    • putting power lines underground at the intersection of Cleveland, Crown and Baptist streets
    • new trees and garden beds in the street
    • combining two bus stops on the western side of Crown Street into one bus stop
    • moving the bus stop into the parking land for better access.
