Sydney's role in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
In 2015 Australia was one of 193 countries to commit to implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, by 2030. These goals aim to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and protect our planet.
We have a part to play in achieving these goals. Our updated plan Sustainable Sydney 2030 details how the City will act on the goals relevant to our city and community. You can have your say on the updated plan until 14 June 2017.

The 17 goals provide an index that marks each country’s performance in areas such as health, economic growth and climate action. Australia ranks 20th in the world.
There are 3 goals Australia has made good progress on and another 6 that need critical action.
